Vtephen and the Withers

What started out as a solo project has turned into something so much more. Vtephen (Stephen with a V) and Sara with an H played together in PCFX from 1998-2018. In 2024, Vtephen realized he wanted to try something a little different and started a solo project, Vtephen. After a year and a half of playing and songwriting, he realized something was missing. That something was other people. Sara with an H rejoined on bass. The sound is really rounded out and full, but then come the drummers. Drummers are always busy, as anyone in a band knows, so there are currently at least two drummers. Shane with an S and Cortez with a Z (possibly Zortez) drum when they can. We are the Withers, because we call come with something. Folk Punk/Pop Punk, Americana, whatever you call it, it is a fun and exciting night for anyone involved. Vtephen (stephen with a V)

Vtephen has spent his whole life correcting people when it comes to his name. "Steven with a V" is how he introduces himself in real life. Finally, he embraced it and became Vtephen, which is Stephen with a V, the most incorrect way to spell Steven. He takes his turmoil and turns it into a high-energy one-man-band show. Songs range between Folk Punk and Outlaw Country (the stuff without the twang). He plays guitar and ukulele while thumping on a suitcase and jangling a foot tambourine. Vtephen also plays bass in the Galveston band MisterPher, and he plays Acoustic or Bass in Cujo and the Wild.

Sara with an H

Sara with an H has been playing bass with Vtephen since 1998. Before he was even Vtephen. When she is not playing bass, she is known around Galveston as Mid the Pines Photography, voted best photographer on the Island in 2025. As a band that played for 20 years, we realized that we had very few pictures of us, and even fewer that looked good. She wanted to change that for the new local bands. So she started taking and editing pictures. Oftentimes, she will take over a thousand at a single event, just to help capture the moment for the artist.
